Time to build: Mohocon appointed as contractor for affordable housing units across Ghana
Ghana has a huge affordable housing deficit of over 2 million homes split evenly between urban and rural areas. 5.7 million rooms are needed by the end of 2024 to bridge the deficit at a preferred occupancy threshold of 2 persons per room.
Having identified housing as a critical sector of the economy for tackling poverty and guaranteeing social stability, the Ghana Government is embarking on massive housing programs. In this regard the Ghana Government has selected development and construction firm, Mohocon, to help it achieve its ambition of delivering affordable housing for public workers.
Mohocon will work with the Government to fund, develop and construct the affordable housing programme by developing and constructing 60,000 homes over 10 years.
This agreement is a major milestone in Mohocon’s commitment to foster sustainable and affordable sound housing for Ghanaian citizens. We are proud to be a selected partner and look forward to boosting local communities using Ghanaian employees and resources to the highest degree possible.
