Although yet in its infancy, the growing number of housing projects is sign of a positive future.

Ghana has initiated significant housing programs to catch up on the massive housing deficit in the country. As described here, estimates suggest that up 2 million homes or even more are required. To accomplish such an ambitious objective, numerous projects are required. Following is a number of construction projects at different stages that has already been started or even completed.

Amasaman Affordable Housing

This housing project is expected to produce 6,500 earthquake-resistant, non-toxic insect-repellent homes fuelled by renewable energy sources. The total value is over USD 5 billion, whereas the unit pricing remains undetermined. The project is funded by the United Nations Office for Project Service.

Appolonia Affordable Housing 

Situated in Oyibi on 2,325 acres of land, this housing project covers 25,000 affordable homes accommodating up to 80,000 people. 

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asokore Mampong

The project was completed in May 2020 (the project was 14 years on its way) by SSNIT and consists of 91 apartment blocks of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments, which are estimated to house over 1000 people. The prices are range from GHS 99 for the least expensive 1-bedroom apartment to GHS 335,000 for a 3-bedroom apartment.

Borteyman Affordable Housing 

A 744 1-bedroom and 792 2-bedroom unit project with a market. The project is completed.

Gbetsile Affordable Housing 

400 affordable homes community with water storage reservoirs, internet access, community playground, gymnasium, schools, a clubhouse, and a shopping centre. The project is located in the Greater Accra region on 43 acres of land and yet to be constructed. 

Kpone Affordable Housing 

An affordable unit project under construction by a USA-Ghanaian partnership. The project will construct at least 24 apartment blocks and 321 units.

Saglemi Affordable Housing 

A 5,000 housing units project.

Shai Hills Affordable Housing 

A 20,000 unit project of 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments with all the necessary facilities and amenities. The project is a Ghana-China collaboration and yet to be completed.

Fortunately, we see a continuous surge in number of projects, which hopefully will bring shorten the time to state of equilibrium, where no Ghanaian lacks sufficient housing.
